SIMS 4 CATS AND DOGS BUILD ITEMS FULL
Just looking at object catalogues do not give the full picture of gameplay additions the expansion pack will add. The catalogue page for Eco Lifestyle also does not show any of the really industrial items that came with the pack, which is a real boon for builders. Besides this, I'm so happy with this pack but it's definitely not as good as I was expecting and it's not my favourite expansion.Eco Lifestyle’s catalogue page does not include the craftable items, which are all available through Build/Buy if you unlock them with cheats. It is a PET expansion pack afterall, but I feel there's a huge lack of pet furniture i.e beds, toys. Also I'm so disappointed with the items in build/buy mode and it really confuses me about why we have so much furniture to decorate the house with but there's basically nothing for the pets themselves.
On top of this, I found that my dog was nearly always needing something and it became very much like having a toddler (which is irritating in my opinion). I was hoping to be entertained by all the playing and mischief she would get up to, but I found it very underwhelming. I adore this pack and I think everything they did with it is incredible (my sims' golden retriever is almost identical to my puppy irl), however I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that my virtual dog finds entertainment throughout the day purely by moving the balls between the two dog toy boxes, and when I removed them she was only following my sim around the house. I bought this pack as soon as it was out and played it for hours and hours after. Whether you prefer one art style or another doesn't matter, it is a fact that overall TS4's graphics are worse than TS3's and subpar when compare to other games released the same year.
TS4 also skips many frames of animation and uses different methods to disguise it like when you play with toddlers and sparkles appear to hide the missing keyframes). Other than that, TS3 has better environments, better volumetric effects (clouds) and particle effects (fire, water), better textures (up to 4K for Sims, and 2048x2048 for larger objects, but the frequency is way higher than in TS4), better meshes (objects have 2x the number of polygons and Sims also have more polygons overall), and of course way better animation (TS4 uses more fluid animations, but animations in TS3 are more detailed, for example TS3 sims actually open the drawer to change clothes. The only aspects TS4's engine improves over TS3's is when it comes to lighting, particularly exterior lighting and portal (transitional) lighting and shadows, which are of a higher quality than TS3 shadows. Graphics in TS4 are way behind the quality standards of modern tripe A games, in fact meshes and textures are of a lower quality than assets from The Sims 2, a game released ten years before TS4.
Graphics overall were better in TS3 for the time it was released.
